Ombudsman calls for licensing of estate agents

The ombudsman for estate agents has called for the licensing and, in effect, regulation of all estate agents in the UK.

Stephen Carr-Smith is putting forward three proposals that would see the creation of a single regulatory body, to which all estate agents in the country would have to belong, providing a code of practice estate agents would have to adhere to and a complaint service to which consumers would be able to turn if they experience problems with an agent.
