Financial advisers are braced for unwelcome surprises in the upcoming Autumn Budget, even as they call on politicians to stay away from more changes that disrupt client’s tax and retirement planning.

The Autumn Budget is set for 28 October. It will be the first under Labour prime minister Andy Burnham and his chancellor John Healey. Occurring just days before Halloween, one financial adviser called the impending tax and spend announcement from the government "scary".  Orchard Financial Advisers managing director Ben Perks said: "This Budget is a scary one, because everything seems up in the air.
