The IA Mixed Investment 0-35% Shares sector may be comparatively small but, writes Alex Farlow, it still manages to offer a broad range of portfolio choices for lower-risk investors

The Investment Association (IA) Mixed Investment 0-35% Shares sector was introduced in January 2012 - part of an IA and Association of British Insurers (ABI) harmonisation exercise, where sectors and their definitions between both organisations were brought into line. The rationale for this was to improve outcomes for consumers while also improving clarity and consistency across both sets of sectors.
