The FCA was called into being on April 1 2013, three months after the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) hit the advice world. Undoubtedly the new entity, formed after the splitting of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) into the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA), is better liked by advisers than its predecessor. It has achieved a lot in its three years, from publishing comprehensive good and bad practice guides for advisers, to demonstrating - at copious event appearances - that it is willing to engage with the industry.
