Broker comparison sites highlight wide cost disparity

Given the wider focus on fund management charges, it is surprising the issue of online broker costs has not received a wider airing but, writes Scott Longley, that could be about to change

A new generation of broker comparison sites is looking to shine a spotlight on the wide disparity in the costs of trading shares and funds that exists across online brokers. New to market is Broker Compare, which has been developed by retail finance consultancy Black Swan Partners, and this joins the Candid Money site that launched three years ago. Both are designed to give users a clearer picture of the costs of a broad spread of investment platforms.
