This month's Retirement Planner Inquiry highlights the challenges advisers face when navigating the annuity market.

Annuities have been taking up many column inches in the past few days as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) released the findings of its thematic review into the market. Unfortunately, we will not get the final word from the FCA in terms of how to improve the market for another year as it has launched a market study into competition. The annuity market is huge, with figures from the Association of British Insurers showing about 420,000 annuities are sold every year.
