Jeremy Pearson, technical support manager of Canada Life, argues that the freezing of the nil rate band on inheritance tax has turned it into a stealth tax on death.

During the election campaign, the Conservatives said they would raise the nil rate band to £1m if elected. But their plans were compromised by the resulting coalition.
