PA 250 Panel: Advisers say trail commission of key importance to firm's value

This week we asked the 250 advisers on our Professional Adviser panel for their opinions on the importance of renewal commission to an IFA business.

The focus on trail comes as new IFA consolidation vehicle Succession, co-founded by former Thinc CEO Simon Chamberlain, says it will work to build joining firms’ renewal revenues in a bid to increase their value and improve service to clients. Chamberlain has outlined ambitious plans to turn adviser firms with minimal trail income into businesses generating 80% renewal commission. According to Chamberlain, a typical IFA firm with five advisers may be managing upward of £18m of client money for free.
