PA Working Lunch: Last chance - Seeking exceptional US growth with Baillie Gifford

Professional Adviser is pleased to mark the return of our Digital Working Lunches for 2025, with the first of this year's series focusing on US growth.

On Wednesday 15 January, Baillie Gifford investment specialist director Ben James will be hosting a session titled ‘The Ostrich, The Index, and us: Seeking exceptional US growth in a top-heavy market'.

The US creates more great growth companies than any other country combined, but its stock market indices are at record levels of concentration. The 'magnificent 7' account for over a third of the S&P 500 index and over half of the Russel 1000 Growth index.

Combine this with noise around AI, inflation, valuation and politics and it can be easy to lose sight of true drivers of long-term returns.

The session will cover:

  • The potential risks of investing in a concentrated index
  • Why and how Baillie Gifford's American Fund seeks exceptional growth companies that could be the mega caps of tomorrow
  • How this approach can help you manage your exposure to a vitally important, but top-heavy market

The one-hour session will kick off at 1pm.

Click here to register for this event, which counts towards one hour of CPD.

New sessions will be announced on an ongoing basis, so keep up to date with our latest offerings here.
