The perfect investment formula

Established in 2004, WDB Assetmaster is operated and managed by a motivated and highly experienced team of specialists, recognised for their expertise in delivering a genuine ‘multi-asset' approach to portfolio construction.

All the senior team members have worked together for over ten years, making them one of the longest serving multi-manager teams within the industry today.

WDB Assetmaster Management Company Ltd (‘WDB Assetmaster') is the Manager of the funds of Williams de Broë Assetmaster Fund plc, an open-ended investment company (‘OEIC') authorised as a recognised collective investment scheme by the Financial Services Authority under Section 264 of the UK Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. Williams de Broë Assetmaster Fund plc is a UCITS III fund authorised and regulated by the Irish Financial Regulator. WDB Assetmaster is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Williams de Broë Ltd, which is the UK Facilities Agent and the appointed Investment Manager to the range of Assetmaster Funds. Williams de Broë Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Evolution Group plc, a company listed on the UK Stock Exchange.

An investment process that works

It may be hard to believe but both ‘multi-asset investing' and ‘multi-manager' are investment concepts that have been around a while. At Assetmaster we are strong believers in ‘multi-asset' investing and have adopted this approach since we launched our funds in 2004.

As the ‘multi-manager' concept has the benefit of reducing risk by diversification at manager and geographical level, ‘multi-asset investing' is also about reducing risk with diversification of asset classes.

Historically, investment funds - and particularly managed funds - were typically limited to one or a combination of the traditional ‘cash/bonds/equities' asset classes in their asset allocation strategy.

However, with the ‘globalisation' of investment markets and the turmoil of recent times, a new variety of diversified multi-asset fund has become popular as fund managers seek returns from assets that have low correlation. By combining assets with different risk characteristics, better returns can be achieved over the longer-term.

The range of asset classes considered in the management of the Assetmaster Funds include:

  • Cash Bonds
  • Fixed Interest
  • Equities
  • Property
  • Structured Products
  • Exchange Traded Funds
  • Commodities
  • Absolute Return Funds
  • Alternative Investments

The multi-asset, multi-manager approach is now firmly recognised as a solution to satisfy investors' requirements in a regulatory environment where, in the pursuit of investor protection, financial advisers are being encouraged to delegate investment decisions to asset management specialists. The multi-manager option removes the burden of individual fund manager selection, asset allocation and administration from the professional financial adviser.

Successful investing - its in our DNA

At WDB Assetmaster we don't give advice and are focused solely on providing multi-asset, multi-manager solutions for clients of professional advisers.

The WDB Assetmaster fund management team, led by Laurence Boyle, has been managing multi-manager portfolios for over twelve years and has managed the range of WDB Assetmaster Funds from launch in February 2004.

As a subsidiary of Williams de Broë we are able to call on the resources of one of the UK's widely recognised wealth managers, while operating a strictly independent investment process and fund selection policy.

In addition to being given the freedom and space to perform, the WDB Assetmaster team are also actively encouraged to invest in their own funds. You can therefore be confident that their interests are the same as your clients.

We are delighted that independent rating agencies are regularly awarding our funds with ratings which recognise the quality of our investment research and process. Please see the latest individual monthly fund bulletin for details of all the current ratings applying to each fund.
