Altmann: Regulation changes could bring independent advice to the masses

Regulation should be changed to allow a ‘national wealth service' to be established to distribute independent retirement advice more widely, according to Ros Altmann.

The pension consultant said amendments to regulation would help ensure people were able to take advantage of the new pension freedoms. Her report, Flexibility in Retirement - Planning for change, sponsored by Metlife, suggested the establishment of a national network of independent retirement guidance, integrated into auto-enrolment, with regulatory changes to improve professional financial advice.
