Isabel Baxter reflects on a dearth of Gen Z advisers and what the industry needs to do to attract young talent

The number of financial advisers under 25 has continued to decrease, according to data Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) obtained by Begbies Traynor Group. There is an urgent need for more younger advisers, but what is stopping them? The data shows that as of Q3 2025 there were 196 financial advisers under 25, a decrease of 17.6% year-on-year and 27.1% quarter-on-quarter. That is a concerning stat to see for me, and it should be for the advice profession.
