Long-term investors must be conscious of global demographic change, writes Darius McDermott

Cast your mind back to when you were young (apologies if you still are!). What interested you then? The latest tech, getting a job, buying the hottest fashions? Fast forward to today. I expect higher up your priorities are good healthcare as the aches and pains creep in; labour-saving devices; and access to leisure activities you can enjoy in your eventual retirement. Ebbs and flows in what we care about as we move from young to old are playing out across the globe as countries enter different states of demographic change. We are seeing long-term shifts in the nature of global population...
