With 15 plus years of financial services experience already under my belt, the turbulent end of Equitable Life at the end of 2000/start of 2001 was a new experience. I experienced redundancy for the first time and declined the opportunity to join the purchaser of the carcass of the oldest mutual in the world. New pastures beckoned and I chose independent financial advice as the career ahead.
