As technology has grown to play a bigger role in the gap between investors and the companies they invest in, writes Laura Suter, that distance could make it harder for people to have their voices heard in the case of ethical investing

Ethical investing is gradually moving from the edges of the industry to become a more meaningful part of the investing world. Assets have been slow to grow, with this largely being blamed on the fact that younger people care more about ethical and, put simply, they have less dosh to invest. But responsible investments now account for 2% of all funds under management owned by UK investors, an increase from 1.5% a year ago, according to Investment Association figures.
