The Christmas general election of 2019 will soon be upon us and so, here, Jonathan Simmons explores the parties' inheritance tax plans...

Inheritance tax take is expected to break all records in the current financial year (2019/20) with £5.6bn set to be collected by HMRC. With more work needed to be done in the sector on efficient financial planning, there have also been calls by opposing political parties to weigh in on the issue of inheritance tax. The Labour Party has unveiled its political manifesto in the run up to the general election with Jeremy Corbyn making several promises spanning areas such as pensions and tax.
