As a kid, whenever I failed miserably at a pursuit, mum always told me: "You can't be good at everything". It was her - very effective - way of picking me up, dusting me off and encouraging me to try something else. I learnt I should focus my pursuits and efforts around pastimes that were within my capability and not wasting time on stuff I would never excel at.
