Some wag has suggested a new definition for the high street - a place you go to try out things you want to buy online. Little did I realise just how much UK shops have internalised this idea. A few Saturdays ago I ventured out to buy a new dinner suit for a family wedding. I am a bit funny about picking suits online so I thought I would treat myself and went to Selfridges - Harrods is for tourists and I am too cheap for Saville Row.
