I recently hired a car for a couple of days while away on business and, thanks to some unknown cosmic algorithmic fluke, I received a free upgrade to a new Volvo XC60 (other cars are available). Before the hire guy sent me on my way, he ran me through a few basic functions and then told me, if I needed to use any of the additional bells and whistles, I could because it was all "highly configurable".
