The Cautious Managed Sector has long been the domain of the 'steady as she goes' small investor, often contributing small monthly pension contributions to their GPP/PP or investing a modest lump in to a life bond. I have no evidence but I believe that this sector would have become more popular since the demise of with-profits. Focusing on pension funds, and all the following statistics are sourced by Financial Express, the cautious balanced sector average fund has lost 6.9% in the year to 30th June 2008.
