Socially responsible investment (SRI), which is also known as sustainable investing or ethical investing, is an investment strategy that looks to both maximise investment return while adhering to 'socially good' principles. Evidence of an increased investor focus on SRI funds was demonstrated in the second half of 2008 as despite the very difficult market conditions, the Investment Management Association (IMA) advised that retail sales for ethical funds saw a net inflow of £54.8 million in the fourth quarter of last year, which followed an inflow of £20.5 million in the previous quarter. ...
