I have now spent seven and a half years at the Institute of Financial Planning and 2006 gives me the most confidence yet that genuine progress is being made to improve the standards of financial advice being provided to the consumer.
As an organisation we have seen membership grow and, as importantly, the number of Certified Financial Planner professionals double in the last two years to stand at 600 as we start planning for 2007. Financial services is, of course, a very broad church and it has been fascinating and amusing in some cases to see the investment companies, in particular, align themselves with the retail community.
