I'm glad to say I've already been through it with my children but for many parents it's that time of year - the dreaded day is approaching when they will have to wave off their child to embark on their first day of school.

A child’s first day truly is a milestone – it’s the first step in their educational career. One area that I believe is lacking in the compulsory curriculum these days is financial planning and product education. It certainly wasn’t covered at my school so is it any surprise that in total 79% of the UK population does not know what and APR is, 15% of 18-24 year-olds think an ISA is an iPod accessory, and 19% of adults hope to improve their standard of living in retirement by winning the lottery!
