I'm writing this blog on Friday 23 November 2007; an innocuous day, you may think. But it serves as the 44th anniversary of two important events.
On this day in 1963, the news broke in the UK that US President John F Kennedy had been assassinated. On the same day, the BBC broadcast the very first episode of a new science fiction series called Doctor Who. Ironically this first episode was delayed to allow for extended news coverage of the tragic circumstances in the US.
