When you live in Scotland, unless you fancy going on holiday to Spain or Greece, the lack of choice of direct holiday destinations often means trudging down to London in order to get to a wider array of destinations.
Not only does this add three or four hours onto most journeys, but it means that you have to subject yourself to the misery of flight connection centres, security queues, surly staff, delays, missed connections and lost bags. So it gave me some comfort as my recent holiday approached to receive an extremely glossy leaflet from British Airways telling me about how good Terminal Five was going to be.
