Guernsey and Jersey are a popular destination for UK expats, who predominantly come here to work in the finance industry, or to escape from the high income tax regime in the UK. In the latter case the low tax rates on both islands, and the close proximity to the UK, are a powerful incentive. The basic rate of income tax in both Guernsey and Jersey is a flat 20%.
