Tax and pension concerns ‘shaping’ how HNW individuals think about financial futures

High net worth (HNW) individuals are feeling less confident amid tax and wealth policy fears, with tax and pensions changes increasingly influencing how they think about the financial futures, according to the latest Saltus Wealth Index report.

The latest index for HNW individuals' confidence in the UK economy and their wealth prospects stood at 60.3, down from 61.3 six months ago. A year ago, it was 64.7. The slide marks the second successive index fall, which Saltus suggested was driven by weakening confidence in the UK economy. The report found that economic confidence has decreased from 66% to 56% over the last 12 months. This represented a continued decline, with the figure having stood at 84% ahead of Labour's 2024 Autumn Budget, Saltus set out.
