The UK Consumer Prices Index (CPI) fell to 2.6% in the 12 months to June 2026, down from 2.8% the previous month, as lower energy prices brought inflation down.
Transport – particularly motor fuels – and food and non-alcoholic beverages made the largest downward contributions to the monthly change in CPI, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics today (22 July). However, core CPI, which excludes energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, remained sticky rising by 2.6% in the 12 months to June 2026 – unchanged from the 12 months to May.
