FCA warns Premier League clubs on unauthorised financial firm sponsorship deals

'Questionable deals' could put fans’ cash at risk

The Financial Conduct Authority has warned top-tier football clubs about their responsibilities when signing sponsorship deals with unauthorised financial firms.

The FCA said it had urged clubs not to put their fans' cash at risk by linking with firms that are not permitted to operate in the UK. The watchdog said several firms, such as crypto businesses and trading platforms, were "using sponsorship to target unwitting football fans".   It said the unauthorised firms may be breaching UK law by providing financial services in the UK without authorisation, adding that fans using these firms "risk losing all their money".  The FCA said it had written to mainly Premier League clubs about their relationships with the financial entities and remin...
