Starmer defends government's Autumn Budget amid controversy

Claims Reeves ‘misled’ the cabinet about the ‘reality’ of OBR forecasts

Prime minister Keir Starmer delivered a speech today defending the decisions that the Labour government took in the Autumn Budget amid a raft of reports that chancellor Rachel Reeves ‘misled’ the cabinet.

Following the Autumn Budget on the 26 November, a cabinet minister who wished to remain anonymous told The Times that they felt misled by Starmer and Reeves over the Autumn Budget making process, and that Reeves did not inform the cabinet "the reality" of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) forecasts.
