FCA complaints: Pensions and investment gripes on the rise

Total number of financial services complaints hits 1.85 million

A total of 1.85 million complaints about financial services companies were received by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the first half of the year, according to latest figures.

Data from the FCA for H1 2025 showed there was an increase of 4% from 2024 when it stood at 1.78 million. Since 2021 H1, complaints have stayed relatively constant between 1.7 million and 2.0 million, it said. While banking and credit cards attracted the largest number of complaints, analysis from Broadstone found decumulation and pensions complaints were up 6% from 89,172 (2024 H2) to 94,035 (2025 H1) including a 38% increase for trust-based pensions from 6,466 cases to 8,977 and investment gripes also increased 10% from 52,971 (2024 H2) to 58,303 (2025 H1).
