Claimants said govt 'failed' to consult with the sector on IHT Autumn Budget

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has been dealt a huge blow as farmers hope to take government to the High Court over its decision not to consult with the sector over reforming inheritance tax (IHT).

Law firm Collyer Bristow said it initiated legal proceedings on Monday (June 23) in a bid to seek a judicial review following the government's sudden changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief (BPR) at the Autumn Budget without undertaking a consultation with the industry first, as first reported in Farmers Guardian.
