FCA declines to rule out simplified advice amid shelving reports

Expect update later this year, regulator says

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has told Professional Adviser it intends to set out its plan for simplified advice later this year and stopped short of confirming the changes are off the table, following a report that suggested the controversial measure could be dropped.

A spokesperson from the regulator told PA: "We have been talking to a range of interested parties about this important piece of work. We intend to set out our plans later this year." This statement comes after it was first reported by The Sun that the watchdog could be dropping simplified advice to focus on targeted support. The regulator has been consulting on whether to introduce simplified advice but is set to announce that it has been "de-prioritised", as per The Sun.
