Number of advisers in the UK rises for another consecutive year

Findings from the FCA retail intermediary market data for 2022

The number of financial advisers working for advice firms in the UK in 2022 was higher than in both 2021 and 2020, new Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) statistics show.

The regulator's 2022 retail intermediary market data - published last week - showed there were 28,227 advisers working at financial advice firms in the UK last year. This is an increase on 27,839 advisers in 2021 and 27,501 in 2020. Including retail advisers who work at other types of firm including investment or asset managers, mortgage brokers, stockbrokers, insurance intermediaries or banks, there were 37,281 recorded in the FCA's 2022 data.
