This week's most-read news story was findings from Abrdn on inheritance tax and the growing concern of traps for blended or non-traditional families.

With so many families no longer sitting in the once-traditional ‘nuclear' family model, this finding is certainly worrying. The research found people in blended families - those consisting of a couple and children they have together as well as children from previous relationships - are less likely to communicate with each other on wealth management. Managing perhaps more complicated family structures has long been a feature of estate planning, but it's fair to say more attention in every-day financial planning is needed.
