Pensions Dashboards Week: Potential disruption for platforms

Platforms will want to continue to expanding and growing assets

If pensions dashboards pose a threat to the continued consolidation of pension assets, the offering could be ‘disruptive’ to the platforms industry, according to NextWealth.

Speaking to mark the opening of the inaugural Pensions Dashboards Week yesterday (3 October), NextWealth managing director Heather Hopkins said the desire of platforms to continuously grow could be hampered. "If you think about the big rise in assets for platforms, the Retail Distribution Review was a fantastic boost for platforms, as were pension freedoms with people transferring assets out of defined benefit pensions and consolidating pensions," she said. "If pension dashboard poses a threat to that continued consolidation of pension assets, then it could be disruptive for platforms...
