Employers urged to boost flexibility for savers

Aon has urged UK employers to consider more flexibility for pension scheme members to allow them to manage their finances more appropriately.

This comes amid the current cost of living crisis, with the consultancy noting scheme members need better availability to manage their finances to meet short-term needs. According to Aon's Benefits and Trends 2022 survey, there has been an increase in the number of employees opting out of workplace pensions over the last year. It found while the majority of schemes (63%) surveyed had less than 9% of employees opt out, the results showed a "proportionally large increase" in the number of respondents reporting opt-out rates of between 20% and 29% of their workforce.
