Regional inheritance expectations revealed

‘Careful balancing act’

People living in eastern or southern regions of the country are most likely to receive an inheritance, according to Quilter research.

It found 53% of people in those regions had been given an inheritance compared to 46% in the London region. More than half of those polled (52%) in the Midlands the North had also received an inheritance. Quilter's research, undertaken by YouGov, also looked at gifting during a person's lifetime. Between a quarter and a third of those surveyed across the different regions were unsure if they would be able to gift money during their lifetime.
