Ombudsman rejects complaints against British Steel trustees

The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO) has rejected a number of complaints from members of the embattled and collapsed British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS).

The Ombudsman gave final considerations in four lead cases on 13 January, after accepting 229 complaints in March last year. While each case was individual and differed slightly, all included a point on lack of information given to the members over receiving cash equivalent transfer values (CETV) and/or early retirement factors (ERF). In the decisions, the Ombudsman's determination and reasons included points that the trustee was "proactive" in providing information, and that information was "clear and explained".
