China A-shares make their debut in MSCI indices

Domestic China A-shares have been added to MSCI regional indices for the first time today after the market was opened up to foreign investors.

Some 234 companies have initially been added to various indices and there will be further tranche added in September, bringing the total to 5% this year.  The 5% inclusion will make up 0.8% of the MSCI Emerging Markets index and bring China's total weighting in the index up to 31.3%.
