Pensioners could face added tax to heal 'intergenerational divide'

A report by the Resolution Foundation has put forth a number of proposals to reduce intergenerational fairness, including upping tax on pensioners, and handing millennials £10,000.

The report ‘A New Generational Contract' analysed intergenerational challenges the country faces and set out policy programmes to tackle them. One of the policies suggested was making earnings of those above state pension age subject to National Insurance (NI) contributions. The report suggested this would raise some £2.3bn to go towards funding the NHS.
