Financial services called out for UK's highest gender pay gap

Pay gap of 31% between men and women

The UK financial services sector has been found to have the largest pay gap between male and female employees, with a median of 31%, according to the government pay gap registry.

According to the Financial Times, this information is logged by 126 companies and public sector organisation on the government's pay gap registry. All companies with more than 250 employees must publish their gap for median and mean wages and bonuses, as well as the percentage of men and women receiving bonuses. Private sector firms have until 4 April to file this information.  PIMFA signs Women in Finance Charter Six of the firms who have already filed information were from financial services, including Virgin Money and TSB.
