Chancellor Philip Hammond has again hinted at the willingness to cut UK corporation tax should the country not get a "good deal" with the EU during Brexit negotiations.

Addressing a group of UK business leaders at Davos on 19 January, he hinted strongly that he was prepared to lower corporation tax from its existing 17%, the Telegraph wrote. He told delegates: "If somehow, despite our best efforts, political retribution were to triumph over economic logic and we don't get a fair deal providing the reasonable access to each other's markets… we will have to do whatever is necessary to ensure the continued competitiveness of our economy in those circumstances."
