'Demand grows for informed IHT advice'

A report by the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) suggests more people will be seeking financial advice on estate-planning strategies, according to Octopus Investments CEO Simon Rogerson.

Inheritances and inequality across and within generations, published today, found elderly people now have more wealth to pass on to younger generations than their predecessors. According to the report, this is largely the result of rising home-ownership rates and rising house prices. On the other hand, the report suggested, today's young adults would find it harder than previous generations to accumulate wealth of their own  due to a sharp fall in home-ownership, the decline of defined benefit pensions in the private sector and the stagnation of household incomes.
