Liontrust to acquire Alliance Trust Investments for up to £30m

Alliance Trust moves to multi-manager approach

Liontrust has announced its intention to purchase the entire issued share capital of Alliance Trust Investments, in a move that will bring over around £2.3bn in assets under management.

Liontrust has entered into a conditional share purchase agreement with Alliance Trust Investments (ATI) to purchase its entire issue share capital for a total consideration of up to £30m, inclusive of the new asset value of the trust. The acquisition is likely to bring Liontrust's total assets under management to more than £8bn and is expected to complete in April 2017. The ATI team, which is headed up by Peter Michaelis and manages 11 sustainable investment funds, will join Liontrust as part of the aquisition.
