Inquiry into state pension reform launched

The introduction of the state pension from April 2016 will be scrutinised through an inquiry launched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) select committee.

MP Frank Field (pictured), who chairs the select committee, said people needed clarity about how they would be affected by changes once they claimed their pension. Complexities arising out of the transition from the current system to the single tier state pension were raised in July, when the government published a 26-point fact sheet outlining the transitional arrangements for people who had been contracted-out.
