Greece's Syriza party wins decisive election victory

Greece's left-wing Syriza party has been re-elected after winning 35.5% of the vote.

Sky News reported the party's leader Alexis Tsipras has vowed to serve a full four-year term as Greece's Prime Minister after beating conservative rivals the New Democracy party to the post. Tsipras triggered a snap election after resigning as Prime Minister following the agreement of a €86bn bailout deal with EU creditors three weeks ago. The controversial deal was designed for Greece to avoid bankruptcy and leaving the Euro. The package included painful austerity measures including an overhaul of its pension system and tax hikes.
