Going, going, gone: Miliband, Clegg, Farage quit leaderships

Labour leader Ed Miliband, Lib Dem head Nick Clegg and UKIP's Nigel Farage have today all resigned as their parties look to have suffered election defeat at the hands of the Conservatives.

In a night of heavy losses for Labour and the Lib Dems, Miliband (pictured) held his Doncaster North seat, while Liberal Democrat leader and deputy prime minister Clegg held on to his seat in Sheffield Hallam. UKIP leader Farage lost his South Thanet seat to the Conservatives. Farage had previously said he would step down as the leader of UKIP if he lost his seat, and this morning he reaffirmed that promise. Meanwhile, shadow chancellor Ed Balls lost his seat in the Morley and Outwood constituency in West Yorkshire to Conservative candidate Andrea Jenkyns. Balls lost his seat by...
