Anne Richards, the chief investment officer (CIO) at Aberdeen Asset Management, and Elizabeth Corley, chief executive of Allianz Global Investors, have become CBEs in the 2015 New Year Honours List, published today.

Richards (pictured), named Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the financial services industry and voluntary service, has been CIO and head of the EMEA region at Aberdeen for more than 11 years.

She had been CIO and joint managing director of Edinburgh Fund Managers (EFM), which was acquired by Aberdeen in 2003. Prior to joining EFM, she worked for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Corley was named CBE for services to the financial sector.

She joined the global asset manager in April 2005, becoming global CEO in January 2012. Prior to joining Allianz, she spent 11 years working at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers - previously Mercury Asset Management - where she was managing director.

Elsewhere in the honours list, Standard Life Investment's global strategy head Andrew Milligan has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to innovation and the economy.

Milligan, who plays a pivotal part in idea generation for the £25bn Global Absolute Return Strategies (GARS) retail fund, has been recognised for his seven-year stint at the Technology Strategy Board, the UK's business innovation agency which operates under the name Innovate UK.

There was also a CBE for Citizens Advice chief Gillian Guy, for services to consumers. The former Ealing council chief executive has been in the role since 2010.
