Dow Jones hits 17,000 for first time

The Dow Jones Industrial Average has closed above 17,000 for the first time, buoyed by investor confidence about the global economy.

The US stock index, which is made up of some of the biggest global firms, rose 92 points to finish at 17,068, the BBC reports.
